Intelligent Protection Scheme for the Part of the Transmission Power System
The paper provides the analysis of the part of the transmission power system, with a focus on the system stability in order to mitigate the contingencies and to prevent the partial or total blackout of the power system. The mathematical model of the power system was built in the Siemens Power System Simulator for Engineering PSS®E. The power flow calculation was run and the contingency analysis for various operating conditions was carried out to identify the critical scenarios. Using the knowledge gained, the proposed solution of the System Integrity Protection Schemes (SIPS) is based on the Synchronized Measurement Technology (SMT), since the current solution uses the conventional Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) measurements and depends on dispatcher’s reaction and experience.
