Sažetak
The development of innovative products and their realisation by means of advanced manufacturing methods and process combinations become more and more important in international competitiveness. In this paper, the methodology that is going to apply in the production process of motor car steering wheel is presented. The first stage is manufacturing of mould required to produce steering wheel. The focus is put on the efficient utilization of 3-axis machining along with high- end CAD/CAM systems with the purpose of productivity and quality improvement. Special attention is given to cutting tools and cutting parameters that support the whole machining process of the mould. A virtual simulation of machining processes of the mould components in the graphical interface of CAD/CAM system CATIA V5 was presented. In the end it was introduced the second stage of production process, i.e. manufacturing process of motor car steering wheel. Steering wheel is made of carbon fibre reinforced polymer using vacuum infusion technology.
