MTHFR polymorphism in patients with cerebrovascular insult and deep venous thrombosis
The most common missense mutation, 667 C ¨ T (Ala ¨Val) in the MTHFR gene, results in 60 % reduced enzyme activity of the methylentetrahydrofolate reductase. This change has been associated with mildly eleveted plasma homocystein concentration and thus with increased risk of vascular disease.
