EQUIVALENT GRINDING THICKNESS

The quality of the grinding process depends among other things also on the load exerted on the grinding wheel cutting surface, influenced to a great extent by the value of the equivalent grinding thickness. The grinding wheel cutting surface with its edges and the space between them, as well as the pores, has the task to bring grinding fluid into the grinding zone and to position and remove chips from the grinding contact. The grinding wheel cutting surface represents thus the grinding cutting tool, which obtains its initial characteristics by dressing the grinding wheel cutting surface and these characteristics in turn influence the loading possibility. This paper considers the equivalent grinding thickness as load criterion of the grinding wheel cutting surface. It also provides an analysis of the influence of the grinding regime, method and dressing conditions of the grinding wheel cutting surface and the processing material on its value.
