Perception management of inquiry based science learning
The current and future changes in society and the economy depends on the developing of cognitive skills of future work force by successfull educational system. Economic modelling that relate cognitive skills, as measured by PISA and other international instruments to economic growth aproximates that even small improvements in the skills of a nation’s labour force from improved learning outcomes, can have large impacts on that country’s future well-being. Education reform was shown in the example of China as an effective way to increase competitiveness in the global arena. The success of reform is mainly attributed by highly positioning education as a core element in the future of society. The effects of educational policies and practices on student achievement depend heavily on how they translate into increased learning in the classroom. Results from PISA 2012. and TIMSS 2011., suggest that, across OECD countries, schools and countries where students work in a climate characterised by expectations of high performance and the readiness to invest effort tend to achieve better results. Based on findings from TIMSS the role of the inquiry based science learning in the successful and less successful countries will be discussed.
