Chicken infectious anaemia virus interferes with transcription for chicken interferon alpha and gamma.
Subclinical infection with chicken infectious anaemia virus (CIAV) has been associated with significant economic losses that probably are a consequence of immune suppression. Interference with production of interferon by subclinical infection with CIAV has also been reported but the type of interferon and the level at which interference occurred was not determined. We report here that subclinical infection with CIAV interferes with both alpha and gamma interferons at the level of transcription.
