Sažetak
The CW Doppler flowmeter can be utilised to estimate the velocity of a medium averaged over a small portion of the vessel cross-section or over the entire vessel cross-section ; in the latter case, if the cross-sectional area is known, the volume flow can also be measured. The velocity (or volume flow estimate) will be proportional to the average frequency. The CW flowmeter cannot resolve range ambiguities (location of the reflecting particles) except by te focusing of the antenna pattern on one small region of the pipe. In that case, the CW Doppler flowmeter estimates the local velocity of the flow.
