Intriguing magnetic dynamics of the Ru-1222 ruthenocuprate

A low field magnetism of the Ru1222 ruthenocuprate has been studied by the use of high resolution ac susceptibility technique. Both the magnetic ordering and magnetic dynamics in the ordered phase are remarkably more complex in Ru1222 than in related ruthenocuprate Ru1212. In particular, we observed phenomena of pronounced susceptibility switching followed by logarithmic time decays and intriguing inverted hysteresis, usually characterizing magnetic multilayers. While the magnetism of the Ru1222 ruthenocuprate generally agrees with the ideas of weak ferromagnetism the particular observations are interpreted within a model of specific, weak AF, coupling between the two adjacent Ru planes. On basis of our results we conclude that the Ru1222ruthenocuprate represents a rare example of intrinsic -naturally grown- magnetic multilayer.
