Homeland revisited
This paper analyses particular essays and short stories written by Josip Novakovich, dealing with the space as a means for contextualizing and situating social, cultural and other relations. The stories and events from the past, influences of the past on the present way of life, and the experience of visiting the old country after many years, seem still to determine the life of Novakovich’s characters living abroad, as well as the life of the author himself. Today, when boundaries seem to dissolve, and people are on constant search “for a better country”, geographical location still seems to be an important constituent of identity. Old spaces contribute to overall hybridity of an individual.
