Arthroscopic revision after failed primary shoulder stabilization

Clinical outcome after arthroscopic revision of the shoulder is not enough known. The aim of the study was to show the outcomes of arthroscopic revision after unsuccessful primary shoulder stabilization. Twenty-eight patients were underwent revision after unsuccessful primary shoulder stabilization and were followed up for a mean 3, 2 years (range, 1 - 6 years). There were 22 men and 6 women with mean age of 32 years, (range, 17-68 years). Time from the last surgery to the revision of the shoulder was 5.3 years. Arthroscopic revision was performed in 22 patients and open Latarjet procedure in 6 patients. Of the 22 arthroscopic revisions, initial arthroscopic Bankart stabilization were performed in 14 patients, open Bankart repair in 4 patients, Eden-Hybinette in one patient, Bristow procedure in one patient. Two patients had two operations before arthroscopic revision. One patient had open Bankart and Bristow procedures. Another patient had open Bankart and Boychev procedures. Of the patients who underwent revision by open Latarjet procedure, initial arthroscopic stabilization was performed in 5 patients and open Bankart and Boychev procedures in one patient. After checking the phone 78% of patients responded to the call and confirmed that they had no shoulder dislocation after revision was made. Arthroscopic revision can provide a satisfactory outcome after failed primary shoulder stabilization.
