Developing Pronunciation and Intonation with Young Learners of English as a Foreign Language
This paper deals with the development of pronunciation in young learners of English with special reference to Croatian foreign language learners. It focuses on two aspects of pronunciation teaching: theoretical (segmental and suprasegmental analysis of English, differences between English and Croatian phonetic systems, basic elements of English language prosody) and practical (pronunciation teaching methods, most common pronunciation problems and mistakes of learners in Croatia, development of pronunciation and intonation, building one's competence in English language, etc). Finally, it offers different learning possibilities and creative activities (nursery rhymes, songs, chants, tongue twisters) and examples for the implementation of the latter in everyday lessons.
