Sažetak
Transient MCAO cause significant unilateral brain infarction. Transient MCAO causes increase in lipid peroxidation (TBARS) and activities of antioxidant enzymes, superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px). Recombinant human erythropoietin (rhEpo) significantly reduced brain infarct volume. Recombinant human erythropoietin (rhEpo) decrease levels of oxidative stress parameters close to control values. Modulation in antioxidant enzyme activities could be one of the indicators of rhEpo neuroprotective effect.
