TRAFFIC IMPACT ON ENVIRONMENT POLLUTION IN THE FIRST DECADE OF THE 3rd MILLENNIUM
The work deals with the harmful impact of traffic on environmental pollution. The increasing motorization and traffic imobility have also increased the negative impact of traffic on the environment endangering the environmental sustainability and environmental balance. Apart from exhaust gases of motor vehicles, negative influence is also originating from the increase in noise characteristic of urban centres. The components of exhaust gases and the estimated increase until the year 2010 are presented. It can be seen that there is greater pollution by the carbon (IV) oxide, unstable organic (NOS) as well as nitrogen oxides in passenger cars than in cargo vehicles. By the introduction of certain measures both outside and within the vehicles, environmental pollution can be reduced.
