Quality control in diagnostic radiology - patient dosimetry I

In order to establish criteria for the evaluation of the quality of radiographic image, several quality control projects in the Republic of Croatia have been started. Whithin this paper, the authors are claiming that there is a simple method for the patient dose estimation based on the proper quality control measurements, followed by the proper use of the ESD table for each particular X-ray unit (via the measured and calculated mGy/mAs) in diagnostic departments. This estimation should become radiographers daily routine. In addition, changes in radiation quality could be noticed and proper maintenance can be performed.
