Il compositore e le sue scelte poetiche il caso di fra Gabriello Puliti e i suoi poeti istriani
Gabriello Puliti (Montepulciano, c. 1583?-1642/3) was a profilic and quite fertile composer. He entered the Franciscan order before his first appointment as maestro di coro in Pontremoli during 1600, and two years later he served as an organsit at the monastery in Piacenza. In 1604 he was affiliated in the franciscan monastery of Pola and he remained active as composer and an organist in various towns of Istria and in Trieste up to his death. Nowdays he is recognised as leading figure in music life in Istria during the first half of the 17th century. This paper deals with the poetry written mostly by local Istrian poets and published in some Pulit's books of motets and madrigals. It seams that Puliti was deeply involved in few intelectual circles in Istria (namely in Capodistria and Albona). The output of these Istrian poets is shawn in the context of a few little-known litterary sources (N. Manzuoli, Rime, et prose de diversi, 1620 ; G.B. Brati, La Ninfa del Formione, 1619 ; Prerogative, ms.c. 1640)
