Perinatal care of newborns with cleft neural tube: a case report
Neural tube defects (NTD) are the most common congenital anomalies of the central nervous system. Mylomeningocele (MMK) represent the most often and severe form. It result from failure of the neural tube to close spontaneously between the 3rd and 4th week of intrauterine development. The precise cause remain unknown, evidence suggests many factors like hypertermia, drugs, malnutrition, maternal obesity, diabetes, folic acid deficiency. It represent typically as a saclike cystic structure covered by a thin layer of partially epithelialized tissue. Maternal periconeptual supplementation of folic acid supplementation can reduces the incidence u NTD. In this paper, we present perinatal care for newborn with lumbosacral MMK, associated with hydrocephalus and Chiari II malformation.
