Drugs and chemical compounds as initiators and promoters of skin tumors
Skin is incessantly exposed to various drugs and chemical which can initiate and/or promote skin tumors. A review is given of chemical carcinogenesis, their classification as genotoxic, epigenetic and unclassified carcinogens. Characteristic of basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and spinal cell carcinoma (SCC) are described as well as chemicals (many of them are used in dermatological therapy) and pollutants acting as initiators or promoters of skin neoplasms. Relationship of photochemotherapy (PUVA), UVB and diet and nutrients with special regard to vitamin D.
