Picosecond Timing with Slow Optoelectronic Pulse-Echo Signals
Returning (echo) pulse signals in long range optical distance measurements, in comparison with emitted ones, have degraded parameters; decreased amplitude and increased rise-time and pulse width, with present noise. To obtain the lowest error of timing and consequently of the range, with longer pulse rise-times, a method of optoelectronic pulse timing was presented that uses charge balanced discriminator (CBD) based on switching properties of step-recovery diode.
