Vessels with perforated grids from Crikvenica
The currently known range of pottery produced in Crikvenica includes 98 types of different vessels: vessels made in the terrae sigillatae tradition (4 types), thin-walled ceramic ware (13 types), bowls (8 types), big bowls/basins (5 types), jugs (17 types), wide-neck jugs (3 types), pots (15 types), lids (16 types), dolia (1 type), censers (6 types), vessels with button-like recipients on the handles (5 types), mortaria (2 types), an amphora or infudibulum (1 type), and vessels with a perforated grid (2 types). They were made from local raw materials found in the vicinity of the workshop. This article presents a single group of vessels - vessels with a perforated grid (2 types.) Their main characteristic is a perforated grid which certainly had a role in some cooking process. Their use is unknown, but they were supposedly used as milk cookers, wine strainers, censers or portable hearths.
