Close relationship between the pubertal development and limited joint mobility in IDDM patients
LJM is more frequent among poorly regulated patients and precede the other chronic complications of IDDM. Analysis of growth, age of onset and duration of IDDM showed no difference between the IDDM patients with and without LJM. We found that 33 of 36 patients with LJM were Tanner II stage or more, what makes 54% of 61 patients in puberty in our whole survey. On contrary between 39 prepubertal IDDM patients, there were only 3 (7.6%) with LJM (P<0.01). RR for development of LJM after onset of puberty was 14.1
