Childhood poisoning- invasive methods of drug elimination
Childhood poisoning is a common clinical problem encountered by a paediatric intensivist. In most cases, general supportive measures are sufficient to treat the patient. In some cases, invasive methods of toxin elimination have to be considered. During the last five years, 257 (2%) of a total of 13, 692 children were hospitalised for poisoning. Five children had indications for invasive treatment.
