Patient avaluation of the esthetic quality of direct and indirect maxillary anterior restorations
The purpose of the study was to undertake patient evaluations of the esthetic quality of direct and indirect maxillary anterior restorations in relation to colour, shape and surface texture and to determine the percentage satisfactory restorations and examine variables affecting the quality. A total of 200 patients participated in this study and compared their restorations with natural teeth (good, satisfactory, poor) and evaluated their overall satisfaction with the restoration appearance (satisfied, not satisfied). The overall satisfaction was high with women, more critical when judging (p<0.05). In the men, the independent variables paralleled the variability of the patients overall satisfaction by 41% (p<0.05). Within the population tested the results suggest that women observe their maxillary anterior restorations appearance more carefully and use more esthetic parametrs then men.
