CORROSION PROTECTION IN THE SHIP HULL CONSTRUCTION PROCESS
Knowledge of shipbuilding corrosion of metals and their protection is important shipbuilding knowledge and furthermore, the issue of choice of metal is a broad concept, and the corrosion behavior can be very variable because it depends on various factors. The proper selection of materials, its primary care and proper maintenance will reduce the rate of corrosion process and extend the life of the material. In this paper, for the selected ship block, the authors will identify and describe all activities, required resources for corrosion protection, production process phase and working area in which they are carried out. Furthermore, the paper also discusses the current regulations and requirements related to this topic (PSPC), and analyzed the changes and improvements as a result of the implementation of the same in the manufacturing process of ship construction. Also, the surface roughness is specially attended, since it is a process that is durable and lasts from ship construction to the end of ship exploitation, and is linked to the ship performance and its fuel consumption.
