PROPOSED GUIDELINES FOR ENERGY EFFICIENT AND ENVIRONMENT FRIENDLY CONSTRUCTION OF SMALL VESSELS
Adriatic Sea is a closed sea where the traffic is increasing every year. Due to such traffic increase there is a need for its protection from various environmental threats, pollution and harmful effects. The paper proposes guidelines for the construction and equipping of small vessels which would contribute to their more efficient exploitation as well as to introduce possibility of energy generating on the sea, all for the purpose of environmental protection. Guidelines also relates to the application of modern environmentally friendly materials and equipment in the construction of small vessels following the principles of green shipbuilding. Also, the orientation towards the use of renewable alternative energy sources in the exploitation of these objects, and especially the education of interested parties in the nautical sector is proposed. Furthermore, the paper suggests a certain relief from relevant institutions to conscientiously shipbuilders and sailors who through their actions and decisions are involved in environmental protection.
