Organellar and cytosolic seryl-tRNA synthetases: structural, functional and evolutionary aspects
The aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases are large family of house-keeping enzymes essential for translation of genetic information. In eukaryotic cells they are found in cytosol and in all protein-synthesizing organelles. In our study of the structure/function relationship in the fammily of serine specific aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases, we have focused on identifying structuraly based differences in the mechanism of serylation performed by organellar and cytosolic enzymes.
