Morfosintaktička prilagodba germanizama u gradišćanskohrvatskome
Burgenland Croats are Croats whose ancestors left the areas of today’s Republic of Croatia and parts of Bosnia more than five centuries ago and settled in the territories of former West Hungary (Westungarn), Lower Austria, southern parts of Moravia and southern areas of today’s Slovak Republic. Despite the fact that they have managed to preserve their language, culture and identity, the impact of dominant language, German, and its traces are visible in the language of Burgenland Croats in Austria. On the examples from our corpus which is comprised both of written texts (newspaper articles, literature) and spoken language (transcripts of television and radio programmes, narrative interviews with our informants conducted in the course of the field study), we will illustrate the linguistic levels and aspects where the influence and impact of German is most notable.
