Analysis of primary gene and protein sequences by means of SCAN software
The analyses of primary protein and nucleotide sequences by means of SCAN software is presented and discussed. SCAN enables the analysis of protein hydropathy and structure patterns with variable box-method and graph widths, sequences of complementary proteins/genes and their repetitive boxes, several quantitative parameters related to the primary and secondary protein structure. The software is written for IBM PC compatible computers and can be run at XT/AT (DOS version), 386, 486 and pentium computers (Win95, Win98 and Linux versions) with VGA or other video cards. DOS and Windows versions were written in Borland's TurboPascal and Borland's Delphi (version 3.0). A linux version was written in C.
