Gender Difference in Expression of Receptors for Steroid Hormones and Leptin in Rat Adrenal Gland Under Acute and Chronic Stress
Plasma glucose, cholesterol and urates level combined with the weight monitoring and glucose tolerance test (GTT) are good markers for metabolic syndrome caused by stress. Leptin has the main role in body weight maintenance but it also lowers the hypothalamus-pituitary axis stress response by inhibition of steroid- hormone secretion from the adrenal cortex. Main aim of the study is to explore the expression of estrogen receptor β (Erß) and leptin receptor (Ob-R) in adrenal gland after acute and chronic stress.
