Curriculum Development at the Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering University of Zagreb
Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering (FMGPE), University of Zagreb, Croatia is an institution of higher education that educates professionals in the area of technical sciences, mining, petroleum and geological engineering field, and in the area of natural sciences, geoscience field. According to a new curriculum recently proposed to the National council for higher education, FMGPE offers three undergraduate and four graduate programs. The study programs are designed according to the latest scientific achievements, professional and practically utilized technologies and trends in knowledge and skill development in the world, and by taking into account the rules given by Bologna declaration (3+2 tier system). The paper will describe in detail the proposed programs together with the expected outcomes, especially related to: the needs of Croatian and regional industry ; the development of new areas of education (environmental programs) ; and the improvement of certain skills like communication, interdisciplinary cooperation and computer literacy.
