Bologna Process and Quality Assurance – Evolution or Revolution from Teachers Point of View
The Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering of the University of Zagreb is the only higher education institution in Croatia in the fields of mining and petroleum engineering, and one of two institutions in the field of geology. Bologna process was introduced into Croatian higher education system in 2005. New study programmes were created by combining experiences from some leading European universities and by taking into account some peculiarities of the Croatian educational system and labour market. Besides that, substantial effort was made to solve some problems like insufficient attractiveness of our study programmes, high drop-out rate etc. In recent years we have also faced the introduction of quality assurance into the higher education and scientific research. After almost a decade since the beginning of a Bologna process, we have made a thorough analysis of its implementation and recognized some new trends and challenges.
