The heat porobe thermocoagulation or polidocanol injection in acute peptic ulcer bleeding patients: Which method to apply on the basis of Forrest classification
In the 164 peptic ulcer bleeding patients the success of heat probe hemostasis (N086) versus sclerotherapy (N=78) was investigated. Slightly better results of heat probe hemostasis than sclerotherapy was determined (P<0, 082) in final outcome were obtained. In the Forrest I-III grade classification of bleeding we found no sognificant sifferemce between these two methods. On the basis of Forrest classification we can not chose method to use. We found that the heat probe had less rebleedings and slightly better final outcome versus sclerotherapy. Both methods are applicable in peptic ulcer bčleeding hemostasis.
peptic ulcer hemorrhage; electrocoagulation; polyethilene glycols; sclerosing solutions
