Sensitivity Analysis of lower leg ischemic muscles model
Acute or chronic ischaemia of lower legs often leads to pathological changes in skeletal muscles or to the apparition of compartmental syndrome. The appearance of these changes is not always accompanied by manifestation of severe circulation changes but by manifestation of increased tissue pressure. Increased tissue pressure can be detected by palpation (not reliable), invasively by direct pressure measurement, by surgical management (painful for patients, complex, time consuming, etc.) or noninvasively by bioimpedance measurement. We proved that using MultiFrequency BioImpedance Analysis (MFBIA) these changes could be detected in early phase, especially in the patients with one extremity syndrome (only one leg with severe changes). MFBIA was performed in the frequency range from 100 Hz to 1 MHz. Getting enough results for statistical approach, we attempted to fit measured results to some of noun bioimpedance models (RRC and Fricke) looking for diagnostic possibilities of such modelling. As these models gave relatively insufficient and incomplete results, we proposed new FEEC model which takes into consideration more skeletal muscles extra and intracellular peculiarities.
