The Sociological Aspects of Precarious Work: Precarity and Insecurity as Global Challenges

It is increasingly clear that one of the most challenging and threatening features of the new global economy has been the rise of precarious employment. Work is nowadays intimately related to social, economic, and political issues, and so the growth of precarious work and insecurity has wide-spread effects on both workrelated and non-work phenomena. The goal of this paper is to offer a theoretical template for understanding all changes in the structure of the labour market. In terms of methodology, the study falls mainly within the area of theoretical analysis, although some already existing quantitative date is being used.
