Concerns about energy and environmental security are today on the top of national agendas f most of the countries in the World. Energy supply and demand, resource efficiency, water supply, aste and pollution, are some of the most important factors that affect the global community. Increasing he pressures on limited natural already became an economic, social and political problem. That is pecially emphasized in developing countries with rapid population growth and increased economic ctivities where already now demand on energy, water or food surpasses supply. The result are often ncreasing cost and reduced supply of commodities. ustainable development offers the way to change the nature of economic growth rather han limiting it. The paradigm is that "continual growth in a finite world is possible through the powers f technology, which will enable us to find new sources or provide alternatives if a particular resource ppears to be running out. Otherwise, technology will help us use and reuse what we have left n the most efficient manner."
