Some new designs of antennas for mobile communication applications
Some new antenna designs and results for mobile communications have been shown. Several programs have been developed for different types of geometries, based on the electric field integral equation (EFIE) and on the moment method. In all programs the core subroutine was G1DMULT algorithm which calculates the Green's functions of planar, circular cylindrical, and spherical multilayer structures in spectral domain. In perspective of present and future broadband wireless systems for high-speed digital communication, special concern was given to compact antennas with wide operating bandwidth. Shorted-sloped and butterfly-shaped stacked patch antennas were proposed for linear polarisation applications. Circular polarisation can be obtained with rectangular stacked patch configuration of optimised dimensions and probe position. For synthesis purpose of this antenna, a simple MoM method in spectral domain was used in conjunction with genetic algorithm optimiser. In all designs acceptable input impedance and radiation characteristics have been obtained. Finally, a cylindrical circular patch array was analysed numerically. The self-developed software for analysis of such cylindrical structures can help in design of BTS smart antennas with 360o degrees operating zone.
