Spectroscopic study of monoalkyl alpha-anilinobenzylphosphonates and their Pd(II) complexes
As a part of our systematic investigation on the complexing properties of various aminophosphonic acid derivatives towards palladium(II) ion, we report the infrared and NMR spectroscopic studies of the monoethyl and monobutyl esters of (alpha-anilino-N-benzyl) phosphonic acid, their sodium salts NaL1 and NaL2 as well as their metallocyclic dipalladium complexes Pd_2L_ (L=L1, L2). In these [N, O] chelates four organophosphorus ligands bridge two palladium atoms by coordination through the aniline nitrogen and the deprotonated phosphonic acid oxygen. The NMR analysis was made on the basis of one- and two-dimensional homo- and heteronuclear experiments including 1^H, ^13C, APT, ^1H-^1H COSY, ^1H-^3C COSY, HMQC, HMBC NMR techniques. The results obtained are compared with those obtained for the corresponding [N, O] metallocyclic complexes of alkyl esters of various aminophosphonic acids derived from aniline and quinoline. The spectral properties of the complexes are discussed in terms of their structure-stability relationship.
