Regional hydrological analysis and management of water resurces of the Istrian peninsula - Croatia
Istria is the largest peninsula on the east of the Adriatic Sea. The climate is prevailingly mediterranean. Area is 2880 km2 with the population of about 200 000. This region is characteristed by developed tourisms (about 20 million tourist days in 1989.). In addition to the growing demand for water Istria is copin with the detrimental effect of water and also with problems related to water quality conservation. This problems impose the need of establishing a more complex approach to the analysis, planning and management of the water resources in Istria. The characteristics of the water collections zones was analysed. There are three mayor drainage basins. A considerable part of the water balance consist of groundwater from springs located along their cources. Regional hydrological analyses and determing of the environmental impact in integrated management of Istria are a way to development.
