Grammar of death in the Psalms
The Psalter is one of the most emotionally charged of biblical books. Examination of the emotional states of the psalmist takes us to his personal religious experience, and in his emotional predicament it is often characterized by thanatophobia and his fear of death. The way we find the psalmist speaking of the nature of his experience is unhindered, open and direct speech (parrhesia). In terms of literature and the psalmodic text itself it is underlined by (fictive)motion and grammatically by the verbs of motion.
