Linguistic Studies of the Ancient East
The history of Ancient East and Egypt had been thorougly studied in Southeastern Europe since the 19th century. However, there is a shortage of linguistic papers, contrasted with the vast number of historical and archeological studies of these topics. This paper presents the grammatical, lexicographic and linguistic studies of various languages of Ancient East and Ancient Egypt. The goal is as well to highlight the imperative of correct language classification and transcription, which is an important part of not only academic writing and research, but of language teaching as well, and to give further implications of existing works along with the future plans and projects.
Afro-Asiatic languages, Egyptian language, Southeastern Egyptology, cuneiform transliteration, Croatian linguistics
