Renal blood flow in follow-up of patients with renal transplants

The aim of the study was to investigate the diagnostic usefulness of renal blood flow changes in follow-up of patients with renal transplants. We used Tc99m pertechnetate and I-131 OIH in 60 233 studies performed in 60 patients. Renal blood flow was calculated from the first-pass time activity curves generated over the kidney ans aorta and expressed as a percentage of cardiac output (RBF/CO). In conclusion, RBF/CO is a reliable indicator of graft function and could serve as a prognostic factor in the graft function recovery and evaluation of therapeutic effects, as well as in graft function deterioration.
