Phase Equilibria in a Rich-Gas Condensate CO2 and Natural Gas Mixtures
The objective of this experimental study was to investigate the potential of pressure maintenance schemes using dry natural gas and carbon dioxide in the case of a deep, hot rich-gas condensate reservoir. The study included detailed compositional and PVT characterization of original and partially depleted reservoir fluid, generated by constant volume depletion (CVD). Mixtures of depleted condensate fluid and dry natural gas and CO2 were prepared and mixture phase equilibrium data determined in terms of saturation pressure, composition and retrograde liquid condensation. This in turn provided the information on the extent of retrograde revaporizarion of condensate liquid upon addition of a particulate gas. The results - reported in terms of respective pressure-composition and pressure-retrograde liquid dropout diagrams - show that carbon dioxide is more effective in vaporizing hydrocarbon liquids of the gas condensate system investigated
