Uncovering Priorities of Nautical Tourism in Croatia: An Importance-Performance Analysis
In the present article we apply importance-performance analysis (IPA) to identify main strengths and weaknesses of Croatian nautical tourism. In order to uncover urgent improvement priorities, tourist-perceived performance of a set of destination attributes was examined simultaneously with the attributes’ influence on the overall destination experience. The data used in this article were collected as part of the TOMAS Nautica Yachting study, a survey-based study on attitudes and expenditures of yachtsmen in Croatia which was conducted by the Institute for Tourism, Zagreb. Overall, 2, 171 nautical tourists were interviewed in 25 marinas and eight town ports along the coast and on the islands of Croatia during the 2012 tourism season. The results of the IPA provide interesting and valuable insight to policy-makers and stakeholders involved in nautical tourism.
