History of the Ancient Near East in primary and secondary school textbooks in Croatia
The author of this article is facing with problematic teaching history of Ancient Near East in primary and secondary schools. Much bigger attention the author devotes to gymnasium textbooks which are, by the level of education, more demanding. The author notes that in the three-year vocational schools generally do not teach world history, and consequently, there is no question about the civilizations of the Ancient Near East. The textbooks for the four-year vocational education textbooks mention only some Ancient East civilizations (Sumer, Babylon, Jews and Phoenicians). In textbooks, the author finds certain discrepancies in the chronology and terminology, and at the end of a proposal gives tabulated chronology of rulers and their terminology, because he believes that this segment is necessary to equalize in primary and in secondary school textbooks.
