Influence of polishing technique on surface quality parameters of Cerec Vita Mark 2 ceramic inlays
Objective of the study was to test influence of surface roughness on material strength and durability of ceramic inlays. Results revealed significant difference for Ra values for Sof-lex discs (Ra=0, 66μm). Values for Rpm/Rz ratio showed significant difference between Hawe brushes with diamond paste comparing to Hawe brushes only (Rpm/Rz=0, 416μm). Material ratio values MR1 were significantly higher for Hawe brushes (MR1=12, 1%). Material ratio values MR2 and values for Rz and Rpm were not significantly different. Characterisation of surface can be made using Rpm/Rz ratio and Material ratio values. Smallest surface roughness was achieved with Sof-lex discs polishing system. All other tested methods are also clinically acceptable.
