Reframing in daily practice
Modern man's obsession with measuring and objectivity tries to make it's way to the field of daily practice in psychotherapy. Nevertheless, this strategy in approaching psychological and social aspects of people progressively loses it's legitimacy, mostly because it fails to answer the most basic questions. This is the entrance for alternative strategies to the therapeutic reality. One of them is refraining. Authors exploit refraining as a way of approaching problems rather than a specific therapeutic technique. After a review of relevant literature and offering some of their theoretical hypotheses, authors will share a few of their examples of different forms of refraining. Authors conclude with an opinion that refraining is a promising way towards implementation of von Foersters's ethical imperative, which asks us to always act in such a way that the number of possibilities is increased.
