The risk of environmental factors in intensive swine production
Environmental with factors as temperature, relative humidity and air draft is the most common cause the incidence of prevalence currant pathology and diseases and dysturbance in intesive swine production. Therefore the eliminated adverse, stresfull envinromental condition is ultimate importance in swine industry.Changes in diet and environmental temperature, changes in diet inoculation with rota virus and administration of a starter diet before weaning, have increased incidence and duration of diarhea due to K88+ Escherichia coli in older pigs. The aim of our continuing research on that issue is to study whether or not bioclimatic parameters (such as air temperature, relative humidity and air speed) have any impact on generation of pig losses due to GIS or P in a large swine farm in Croatia. During two years period we have monitored monthly ambiental factors (air temperature, relative humidity and cair speed) using Solomat 21000 (Solomar, Evry) in farrowing and rearing pens of a large swine farm in Croatia. Results of this reaserch is next: during three years of ambiental factors was monitored, ambiental situation in farowing pens was: air temperature 23.93.8, relative humidity 74.67.6, air speed 0210.09: for rearing pens was: air temperature 23.83.8, relative humidity 79.39.1 and air speed 021 0.1. During this time of research was died in farrowins units 19.611.8 from GIS, 46.624.1 from P. In rearing units was losted 26.519.7 from GIS, 27.316.4 from P. Caculated correlation between air temperature, relative humidity and air draft and losses of pigs due to GIS or P is plotted. The incidence of GIS among weaned pigs highly correlated (coefficient =0.5>0.05; coefficient=856, P<0.01) with relative humidity and air speed, respectively.
