Impact of liming and fertilization on winter wheat profitability

The aim of paper was to investigate optimal fertilization and liming level regarding wheat yield and profitability. Conducted two year and three sites experiment confirmed that fertilization (200:150:300 and 200:300:300) and liming (10 and 20 t ha-1) effected yield and production profitability. The grain yield in first year experiment increase from 2, 7 t ha-1 (control plots) to 6, 7 t ha-1 (10 t ha-1 lime&200 ; 150:300 fertilization) and in second year experiment was confirmed significant impact of fertilization (6, 3 t ha-1), double phosphorus fertilization (6, 8 t ha-1) as well as liming (5, 5 t ha-1) regarding control plots. Cost analysis shows that share of fertilizer in total production costs were from 7% (10 t ha-1 liming without NPK fertilization) up to 55% (20 t ha-1 lime & doubled phosphorus fertilization). Moreover, paper deals with costs calculation based on model for optimal fertilization concerning soil fertility & achieving maximal yields what implicates lower costs and higher profitability of wheat production. Three experiments profit analysis verified significantly lowest profit on control treatments, while any fertilization or liming treatment would increase profit. Optimal reduced fertilization on all three sites would result in doubled profit.
