Reconstruction of a Small Hydro in a National Park - Case Study
Hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) in Croatia have been in operation for more than 100 years. At first there were small HPPs (< 5MW) using natural falls. Some of them are still in operation. This paper presents a reconstruction of one of the oldest small hydro in Croatia which is located in a national park. In the first part of the paper some historical information about small hydros in Croatia is given, particularly about HEPP Roski slap which is considered in this paper. The second part describes Roski slap HEPP's damages in the last war in Croatia. Information about operating conditions in the national park, privatization, selection of equipment and problems in reconstructing the building are given in the third part of the paper. The next part of the paper describes the reconstruction realization. And in the final part there is some information on HEPP Roski slap operation.
