Therapy-resistant absence epilepsy with cystic formation in the wall third ventricle
Epilepsy with absence is a classic primary idiopathic epilepsy in childhood. The authors describe a patient with resistant absence epilepsy a 6, 5 years old boy who has been treated for two years now. All awaylable antiepileptics includinig some new drugs were tried without success. Radiologic examinations with MR and CT SCAN revealed a cystic formation in the wall third ventricle or right thalamus which according authors opinion, is probable cause of resistant absence seizures. The authors didn t find any similar findings in the literature, with discreet but clear visible organic cause docomented by current neroimaging procedures.
