Spatial Ability of Engineering Students - Gender Differences
A well known gender differences that can be considerable for certain component of spatial ability, are important issue for engineering students where female population is usually less represented. The research into students' spatial ability and actual state concerning gender differences was carried out at University of Rijeka Faculty of Engineering for undergraduate university studies of mechanical engineering and naval architecture. The assessment of spatial ability was performed by means of two widely used classical tests that take into account different components of spatial ability. The obtained results pointed to apparent gender differences and at the same time, considerable improvement of performance for certain spatial ability component after engineering graphics tuition.
